The PAP juggernaut

We are privileged to perceive the  colourful survival-asserting  display which will not have escaped the cynosure of the public eye. It's interesting that this is happening at this time when there is more than a murmur on  the defaults of the PAP. They are obviously uneasily smarting from the opposition united sharp articulations which seem to rattle their political bastion. First you see DPM Lawrence Wong and now Ong Yee Kung taking up the cudgel to whack opposition crusaders like Leong Mun Wai and others accusing them of lacking in political correctness in their speeches. Leong Mun Wai has emerged to be such a formidable debater with strong resilence that even sent a top eloquent Home Affairs Minister K. Shanmugam to bite the dust. We should have more pugnacious opposition MPs like Leong Mun Wai in Parliament to make the ministers to work more earnestly and to give a sparkle to the proceedings. They may try to dislodge Leong Mun Wai from Parliament but this will not be a surprise.

Today on the internet you will not miss the voluble angry voices of Singaporeans over the high cost of living and other governmental deficiencies which they blame the government of Lee Hsien Loong for bringing their livelihood to such a miserable state when the PM and his plutocrat ministers are pocketing millions of the people's money. And what a cruel joke when you have an out-of-touch DPM  Lawrence Wong shouting his head off trying to get the people to support the 4G leaders in the next general elecrtion. He was quite popular in the beginning but it now sounds like a repeatedly-played gramophone record which the people may find amusing. He is the PM-in-waiting in eternity like his predecessor Heng Swee Kiat.  Whether or when Lee Hsien Loong is going to step down is still a myth and there is a rumble to urge him to do so now. You get a famous political commentator like Bertha Henson to join in the chorus to strongly urge him to step down now. But true to his character Lee Hsien Loong is quite thick-skinned  and he needs a putsch to get him out.

Lately he might be haunted by the world geopolitical situation and came out to utter claptrap to try to tranquillise the people but he really  needs the succour himself. He sucks up to Xi Jinping and hobnobs with the Americans  at the same time. He has become a past master at tight-rope politics.

The mammoth implications of the leakage of US highly classified information

 This is like an story in the Ian Flemmings' James Bond adventure.That it could have happened  in the highly powerful administraion of the USA is like a heavenly earth-shaking hoax to dement the people  when they are just recovering breath after their nerves are rattled by China's Xi Jinping military manoeuvre over the Taiwan Straits as an invasion rehearsal.

Could Joe Biden have stunned the world with his naive remark "I am not concerned" in reference to the highly classifed information leak coming from the President in command of the most powerful country in the world. If he is not concerned then who is. Apart from the sensitivity of the leaked documents there is the more important question of how a national guardsman could have the technical skill to access the highly classified archives.with the extremely tight security could make the Americans look like amateurish Mandarins. The Russians will find this colossal security lapse amusing and something which they could learn to access the American highly classified archives at a propitious time in future.

Catching the culprit for the security break-in and sending him to prison is just the beginning of the American big headache. They are confronted with the enormous task of regaining the trust and confidence of close allies who must be greatly shocked by the American homogous security lapse.That the comical melodrama has placed the Americans in the grave quandary is never in doubt and this at the critical time of the intractable US-China conflict. It's going to take a herculian effort to surmount this security behemoth.

Xi-JinPing's overpowering fate on Taiwan

This is a subject that seems to be a taboo among the English and Chinese press in Singapore. And someone  has to break the glass barrier to put Singaporean''s mind in perspectve.The world is now mesmerised by an insane colossal military display  by Xi Jin-Ping to bring Taiwan's Tsai Ing-wen and the Americans to their knees for allowing a so-called fraternal meeting between Tsat Ing-wen and American House Speaker Kevin Mc Carthy. That Xi can regard such a mutually confidence-sharing meeting as a serious threat to the sovereignty of China to order the gigantic military display is simply mine-boggling.to the people .But this is an aspect of his persona that Xi wants the world to see.

Xi maintained that Taiwan is an integral part of Chinese territory which he is determined to reunify by peaceful or forceful means.But Tsai Ing-wen and the Taiwanese are equally determined to keep Taiwan under democratic rule with all the freedom that they have been enjoying for a long tiime. They rejected that Taiwan had ever been under Chinese Communist rule. World opinion seems to be muted probably because world leader tried to avoid upsetting Xi because of political or economic reason. What about Singapore's Lee Hsien Loong? He regards Xi as his godfather  and Taiwanese fate to him is just a pawn.

Americans are unequivocal in their determination to give their utmost support to defend Taiwan in the event of a an invasion by Xi's China. and this is repeated in the most strongest term that it leaves Xi with no illusion of American's humanitarian crusade. It was made very clear to Xi that  this was no idle threat and would make any invasion so astronomically costly, both politically and economically,that Xi could only ignore at his peril, not to mention a phenominal toll on casualties.  There is also a possibility of a political upheaval of the people of China over the magnitude of the devastation. Americans will turn it into a highly protracted warfare which China may not be able to sustain economically and a possible political upheaval from the people.

There is no doubt that Xi has all the military might to carry out the invasion and the world would want to know why he holds back his invasion. Xi may have all the confidence to launch a military adventure but  it is just possible that saner counselling could have prevailed.and he now finds himelf  in a deep dilemma to cross the Rubicon for an invasion.

The Americans are quite confident and may even have called Xi his bluff. This is so far like a conjecture and there is a need to watch closely how Xi could pull off a political salvation with his ingenuity.He cannot retreat as it would be political suicide.

Finally this may tickle some of your imagination. Xi Jin-Ping gives a visage of benignity but it you look closely you may see his fangs.

A sublime view of the almighty Lee Hsien Loong

 When a man is near death he speaks from his heart but a bird makes a mournful sound. (鸟之将死  其鸣也哀  人之将死  其言也善). Could this sententious Chinese saying be a reflection of the almighty Lee Hsien Loong? He is so despically persecuting his siblings and his nehew over Oxleygate and pockcting millions of people's money to sustain a luxurious livelihood and now masquerading benignity to flummox the people's discerning perception.

The time has come when there is now a subliminal progression of history clearly signifying that his flexing of political muscles to serve the interests of over-gratifying citizens and non-citizens has been so exquisitely accomplished that it is now time for him to step down.to make way for DPM Lawrence Wong to show his talent. Even the former Straits Times editor Bertha Hanson has strongly urged that it's time for Lee Hsien Loong to step down.

Lee Hsien Loong could not be so dumb as not to sense that there is a subtle disquiet among the people to see that Lee Hsien Loong should step down and this could escalate to an avalanche that could see him cast tnto the trash of history. if he does not do so.This is not an imaginary scenario that he could ignore only at his own peril.

The first thing that came to his mind was clearly the China card which could save him from his political doom. China is on a roll and Xi-Jinping has been elected for a third term as President. So he very cleverly organised a trade and friendship visit to China ostensibly to promote economic enhancement for Singapore and to renew ties with the Chinese leadership, especially Xi=Jinping who he regards as a godfather. It's an excellent ploy to allay the disquiet of the people of Singapore to gain a further lease to his political career.

He may be able to pull it off this time but the fat remains that the politically-savvy Singaporeans want to see a younger prime minister take Singapore to a more illustrious height in face of a more sophisticated world.
